１軍はみな定年間近のベテラン選手ばかりで、どんなに成績が悪くてもクビにならない。チームの運営費は、大半がこのベテラン選手たちへの報酬で消える。若手はどんなに力があっても２軍以下で、報酬も上がらない。上がつかえているので、昇進も昇給も望めない。チームは選手をクビにできないので、新しい選手を採用することもできない。

もしこんなチームがあったら、勝てるはずがあるだろうか？

世界じゅうが競争しているなかで、いまの日本は、ちょうどこのチームに近いのだ。
